The former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chastised President Akufo-Addo’s government and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for neglecting the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal project after several assurances to Asanteman and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
On November 2020 President Akufo-Addo, cut sod for the commencement of work on the US$330 million Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal project, popularly referred to as the Boankra Inland Port Project, which has been on the drawing board for some eighteen (18) years.
The idea of the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal project has been in the pipeline since the days of the Government of the 2nd President of the 4th Republic, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor.
In attempting to bring it into fruition, it encountered a number of challenges, a significant one being the exit of the NPP government in 2009.

According to Joseph Yammin, though Ashanti Region is a stronghold for NPP and the region brought NPP and President Akufo-Addo to power but Nana Addo and NPP are unwilling to develop Asanteman.
“Deceiver President Akufo-Addo came to Ashanti Region and took Asantehene to Boankra Inland Port to cut sod only to abandon the project. Can Nana Addo treat Okyehene like how he treated Otumfuo and Asanteman”? Yammin asked.
“President Akufo-Addo and NPP have taken Asanteman for granted because those who fought for Manhyia Palace, Asanteman and Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II are now toothless bulldog because their party NPP is in power”.
