Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Ethel Esi Eshun popularly known as Queen eShun, has said the ‘Queen of Ghana Music’ placed on Wendy Shay would have to be proven.
According to her, just like Sarkodie and Shatta Waale had to prove beyond all reasonable doubts that they are indeed kings in their separate areas of endeavour, Wendy Shay has to do same.
In an exclusive interview with Ghbase.com which was hosted by Adwoa, eShun did not disagree with the claim nor did she debate on whether the ‘Uber Driver’ hitmaker is, indeed, ‘Queen of Ghana Music’ but she opined that the proof od the pudding is certainly in the eating.
“I think with time, whatver you call youself would have to be proven. If she (Wendy Shay) works towards it, she will achieve it. If not, everybody would know that she is not what she claims she is.”
Using the ‘King Sar’ analogy as an example, eShun said:
“Many of us have called ourselves with so many names like how Sarkodie referred to himself as King Sark. Now, you can’t say King Sark is not King Sark because he has proven it and worked hard for the name.”
eShun added that she is not in any way against self-acclaimed tags, monikers of whatsoever so long as the person is ready to work and prove that he or she is deserving of the name.
Wendy Shay has been calling herself the ‘Queen of Ghana Music’ for the past years after she shot to prominence. Although this tag is highly debatable, eShun believes she can only hold claim to it when she works hard for it.
