Following relegation from the English Premier League last season, it hasn’t been a straightforward start to life back in the Championship for Sheffield United.
The Blades have made a somewhat sluggish start to the campaign, but with results starting to look more positive, the South Yorkshire outfit have begun to cover the ground between them and other promotion-chasing clubs.
Slow Out of The Blocks
Following the departure of Chris Wilder last season and relegation from the Premier League, it’s been a tricky start for new manager Slaviša Jokanović at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United, who are currently 6.5 to be promoted this season in the English Championship betting odds, went their first six league games without a win. The Championship predictions would have expected the Blades to fare much better at the start of the season and the dismal lack of goals certainly didn’t help to alleviate the pressure mounting on former Watford and Fulham boss Jokanović. Nonetheless, it appears as though the former Chelsea midfielder has finally started to turn a corner with the side and fans can rejoice as there look to be promising signs of development.
Jokanović needed fresh faces to bolster the squad and he got that with midfielder Conor Hourihane signing a permanent deal at the club from Aston Villa. The likes of Ben Davies and Morgan Gibbs-White penned new loan deals at Bramall Lane, while veteran Adlène Guédioura signed a contract after impressing on a trial at the Championship outfit.
Blades With Quality to Challenge
With the summer arrivals and some experienced heads at the club, many will be expecting United to start climbing the Championship standings. Talisman Billy Sharp continues to lead the line for his beloved club, with the Blades also having fellow strikers Rhian Brewster and Oli McBurnie to look to for goals this season.
After the torrid start to the campaign, it seems Jokanović has been able to weather the storm, and now Sheffield United are looking up as they hope to make a swift return to the Premier League.
