The legislator lost his bid to contest the 2020 elections on the ticket of the ruling NPP during the party’s parliamentary primaries held this year and has decided to contest as an independent Candidate come December 7th.
“Withdraw your decision to contest as an independent candidate and come back to the big NPP party since your decision will affect us if you choose to contest as an independent candidate,” he said.
He entreated Mr. Amoako Asiamah to consider his decision of contesting as an independent candidate stating that the party will lose if he goes independent.
“The party is ever ready to take him back. Since he has respectively served the party with integrity. Honestly, the decision made by national executives isn’t good. They find means of opportunities available to the party in solving the issues before taking another step. Hon Asiamah must exercise patience and stop Independent decision-taking” Mr. Agyapong said.
According to him, the party has great plans for Asaimah and in case he pay a courtesy call to the President. He [Akufo-Addo] will attend to him but if Asiamah ‘misbehaves’, the party will probably turn back on him.
He disclosed that if his colleague MP, Mr. Asiamah insisted on contesting as an independent aspirant and he loses the election, then that would be the end of his political career.
“New Patriotic Party cannot work with any independent candidate. I will lead you to get another position in NPP government if we win this year’s general elections” he added.
The controversial legislator urged electorates to vote massively for the newly elected Parliamentary candidate for Fomena Constituency, Mr Philip Ofori Asante (POFA) who the party has chosen.
“When I lost the Parliamentary Fomena Constituency seat in 2016, I was encouraged to contest as an independent candidate but I considered what they have done so I didn’t buy the idea of my followers,” Mr. Atta Boafo revealed.
