The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Joshua Akamba has said that President Akufo-Addo will set an unenviable record as the first Ghanaian President to be prosecuted on the charges of corruption after leaving office.
According to him, the number of corrupt deals that Akufo-Addo has superintended over makes him a likely candidate for prosecution when the NDC takes over.
Speaking on Neat FM, on Wednesday, August 25, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net Mr Akamba supported an earlier claim by former President John Mahama that Akufo-Addo has no intention of fighting corruption.
“I am 99 percent sure that Akufo-Addo will be a prosecution candidate when we win the next election” he said.
He buttressed his claim by saying that most of the people found to be mentioned in colluded acts are either relatives or friends of the President hence his inability to act.
He said that so far Akufo-Addo has cleared all of his appointees who were to be investigated and prosecuted.
To him, 77-year-old President will go down as one of the most corrupt African leaders of all time.
He said that unlike Akufo-Addo, Mahama has showed his willingness to corruption in his administration in time past.
He cited the prosecution of Mr Abuga Pele who was jailed for six years as an example.
