The European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Irachad Razaaly has reiterated his commitment to support Ghana in all aspects of development.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Europe Day celebration, the Ambassador commended Ghana’s commitment to the EU-Ghana partnership and revealed the EU’s readiness to support Ghana to adapt proper climate change measures such as promoting green growth to create jobs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
“It is my hope and wish that Ghana and the European Union will continue their excellent partnership to create that space and to address the common challenges ahead of us. I am committed to help strengthen this bridge between Europe and Ghana at institutional and political levels of course, but at a people level as well”, he stated.
The European Union in Ghana as part of celebrating the 2022 Europe Day held a week long ceremony to commemorate the occasion under the theme: “65 years of EU-Ghana partnership” in a grand style.
The Europe Day, which is celebrated on May 9 every year, to mark the anniversary of Robert Schuman’s declaration in 1950, where he proposed to form an economic partnership between France and Germany by pooling coal and steel production was also held in Ghana to promote the peace and unity in Europe.
Irachad Razaaly praised Ghanaians on the warm reception he has enjoyed since September, 2021 and charged the various institutions in the country to work towards building a serene atmosphere so that individuals who are striving to develop the country can survive.
To him, meeting some of such industrious people has been a source of permanent inspiration and motivation.
“Those who collect plastic waste and recycle it to build bricks and create jobs, those who fight against deforestation by producing charcoal out of agricultural waste, those who build rechargeable batteries; the everyday fisherman who struggle to make ends meet as they are respecting closed season.
“I call the ordinary heroes of Ghana, they are permanent source of inspiration and motivation. It is my hope that together with Ghanaian institutions, these heroes are given the space to make their contribution even more impactful”, he added.
