The General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that Ghanaians should blame the rising insecurity in the country on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Thursday, September 2, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, the Chief NDC Scribe who was reacting to the latest CDD report said that if Ghanaians are crying of insecurity then it means that Dr Bawumia has neglected his core mandate.
According to him, the major mandate of the Vice President is to have oversight responsibility on the matters bothering internal security.
He said it is for this reason that the constitution chooses the Vice President to be the Chairman of the Police Council.
Hence he said that as Vice President internal security should be the main focus of his job, not economic matters
” For me, I believe Dr Bawumia should be blamed for the insecurity in the country. Because the constitution mandates that he oversees matters of internal security. You have not been able to do that then you go and take the Chairman of the Economic management team” he said.
