George Akuffo Dampare takes over as the Inspector General Of Police (IGP) on August 1.
He takes over from James Oppong-Boanuh who has occupied the position since 2019 and has been instrumental in shaping the image of the Ghana Police Service.
However, the contract of the current IGP is expected to expire on October 7, 2021.
George Akuffo Dampare comes in with a wealth of experience after moving through the ranks of the Police Service.
He holds a PhD in Finance and became a Chartered Accountant at age 25 when he joined the Ghana Police Service and is the current Director-General in Charge of Administration at the Ghana Police Service.
