As part of its Youth Sports Development Initiative, Africa1Media (A1M), an advice and consulting organization for creative talent, is thrilled to announce the beginning of its first youth football tournament in Accra, Ghana.
Youth sports is an effective way to develop and mentor young athletic and sporting talent for a career in the global sports sector.
At A1M, we think that providing a platform for the mobilization of young creative and talented individuals for a worthwhile cause has the ability to inspire them to work toward becoming the change they need in their life and, in the process, enables them to meaningfully contribute to society.
We started the youth sports development program as a reaction to the need for such a channel, with the main goal of identifying and nurturing young sporting talent in Africa.
A1M is ready to enter the growth of youth sports, beginning with football, after comprehensive consultations with key players in the sports industry and careful planning.
Despite the fact that this first edition will be our first football scouting competition, we have invited foreign coaches to help us identify the top young athletes.
Coaches from Ghana, the Scandinavian nations, and experts with expertise from Premier League Academy Football Clubs and Foundations like Arsenal and West Ham Foundation have all been brought on board for this edition.
Starting with these 5 regions, we are hoping to have them scout sporting talent across all 16 of Ghana’s regions.
Sports talent between the ages of 15 and 17 is sought after. This announcement is a formal invitation to all male players in the aforementioned age range (female players will be added the following year) to sign up and compete in the event.
The tournament which will take place from the 30th of September to the 2nd of October, 2022 will include:
- A footballer Education evening with panellists discussing the following topics:
- The importance of education
- Sports Nutrition
- Injury prevention and how to recover after an injury
- How to train as a player
- What it takes to be a pro
- Money Management
There will also be a Coaching Workshop facilitated by Temisan Williams (Arsenal and Excellence Academy) and Ade Omideyi (Excellence Academy and West Ham Foundation on the following topics:
- Maintaining Possession
- 1v1 Domination
Application forms for the talent hunt are now available and can be found via the QR codes below:
Following the successful launch of this first edition of the tournament which we hope would become a yearly event, we will use it as a springboard to start our flagship Weekend Football School project.
The grand plan is to set up a Creative Arts and Sports Academy where young creative talents can develop employability skills through our youth sports development and education-themed personal development programs.
A1M is committed to the vision of equipping and empowering young creative talents economically.
