The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Ltd, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has donated a brand new ultra-modern Drager Fabius plus anaesthetic machines used for COVID theatre to the University of Ghana Medical Center to help the hospital and government fight against COVID-19.
This forms part of a total of ten that will later be distributed to various health facilities across the country. The UGMC currently has two anaesthetic machines, with today’s donation making it three.
Presenting the items on behalf of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama at the UGMC on Monday, his aide, Mr. Rafik Mahama, disclosed that, “Mr. Ibrahim Mahama donations are intended to help the fight against COVID-19 in the country.”
“With UGMC being one of the main referral centres for treating critically ill patients, it’s important the hospital is fully equipped in order to help reduce the increasing mortality rate among critically ill patients. We are planning on doing similar donations across other health facilities on a later date.”
Director of Operations of UGMC, Mrs. Lucy Ayeh Brimpong who received the items expressed his gratitude, adding that the anaesthesia machine will be extremely helpful to the centre when treating critically ill COVID-19 patients.
This forms part of a series of donations the business mogul has undertaken since the COVID-19 pandemic started in March.
In April, he made donations to the National Chief Imam, Christ the King Church, Saint. James Catholic Church-Osu, various organizations, and individuals, etc. This was done to feed 10,000 households.
In May, he made a similar donation to the visually impaired pensioners.
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count according to updates provided by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Sunday, stands at 24,518.
This was after 270 new cases were recorded.
9,823 of the total count is from general surveillance and 14,695 from enhanced contact tracing.
The number of recoveries has risen to 20,187 with 4,192 active cases.
