Brendan Rodgers had Kasper Schmeichel to thank as Leicester left Burnley with what could prove to be a vital point in the race for Champions League football.
Matej Vydra put the hosts ahead after just four minutes following an under-hit pass from Hamza Choudhury.
Kelechi Iheanacho levelled matters 11 minutes before the break and Schmeichel (pictured above) — like fellow keeper Nick Pope at the other end — produced a fine display to ensure third-placed Leicester emerged with a share of the spoils.
Rodgers, 48, said: “We made an awful start in the game to concede so early.
“That always tests your mentality and spirit but I thought we came into the game and showed good moments of quality in the first half.
“When we were playing and breaking through, we looked a real threat.
“We were unfortunate with Youri [Tielemens] hitting a post. But if you can’t win it you take your point and move on.
“Schmeichel’s concentration and his desire to stop the ball going in the net is so good.
“He always produces for us. He’s absolutely outstanding when he had to be here — that’s why he’s one of the top keepers at this level.”
Hitting the woodwork
Burnley also struck the post through Ashley Westwood in the second half of a performance boss Sean Dyche was more than happy with.
He said: “We get a point, which is pleasing. We may have taken more but the reaction and the performance were super pleasing.
“You don’t want their keeper to be man of the match but it does imply you’ve been an attacking force — and I thought we were, especially in the second half.
“We went 1-0 up and we looked just a little bit hesitant, almost waiting for the game.
“In the second half, we really took it on with a mentality to go and win the game. I was really pleased with that and the performance.”
