The Krontihene for Pitiko, Nana Adu Parko has said Kwahu NifaHene who doubles as the Chief of Obo does not have the power to intervene in chieftaincy issues in the area since Pitiko does not swear an oath to him.
Nana Adu-Parko also described the said attack on Opanyin Kwadwo Frimpong as false and baseless.
At a press conference on Saturday 24th April, 2021 at ForiFori in the Afram Plains South District, Nana Adu Parko stated categorically that Opanyin Kwadwo Frimpong is not the chief in the area.
According to him, on the 9th April 2021, Opanyin Kwadwo Frimpong and his accomplices came to Pitiko palace, with reasons best known to them without his and the chief Nana Obeng Boateng II knowledge. He explained that Nana Obeng Boateng II has been customary enstooled as the chief Pitiko and he is the only chief in the area.
Background of Chieftaincy disputes
Following the chieftaincy disputes, Nana Adu Parko said since the demise of the late Nana Danso Ababio II, Pitiko has been on litigation on the enstoolment of Pitiko Chief. The hearing of the case was arbitrated at Kwahu Traditional Council from 2012 – 2017 in favour of him.
He said his counterpart disagreed with the Kwahu Traditional Council at (Mpeaso) decision and forwarded the case to the regional house of chiefs in Koforidua for further arbitration.
The Regional House of Chiefs arbitration committee advised both parties to come back home and start fresh nomination of names and submit to the kingmakers for proper installation and enstoolment.
He said, to set records straight, Kwahu Obo Hene (Nifa Hene) has no power or authority to install chiefs at Pitiko, for which he has made several attempts to do so.
Read below what he said
“One point in time, Daasebre Nana Akuamoah Agyapong II, Kwahu Hene made Obo Hene to understand by writing to him to disassociate himself from Pitiko chieftaincy matters.
To our surprise, Obo Hene continue to make incursion on enstoolment of Chief at Pitiko, and or that matter reported the case to the District Police Command Tease who advised me to consult the magistrate court for interim injunction issue against the opponent.
A date was fixed for both parties to meet at neutral grounds (Kwahu Asakraka) to resolve our misunderstanding and differences to enable both parties to select a suitable candidate to be estooled.
Friends of the media, having all parties agreed to meet at Asakraka Kwahu, hardly did we hear that one Op. Kwadwo Frimpong and his gangs have travelled down to Takoratwene in Afram Plains carried him on shoulder high, and installed him as Pitiko which is against customs.
However, it was shocking news to any law-abiding person, against this background, friends of the press/media, we also consulted our lawyers for advice and we were told that since the other opponent has defiled orders, we must also find the legitimate and customary way to enstool Nana Obeng Boateng II as Chief of Pitiko and Kwahu Nsumakwaahene. We followed the procedure from Kwahu Asakraka, Bepong, Obomeng through Abetifi to Abene Kwahu, the seat of Okwahu Paramanouncy for the performance of all necessary customers rites and the swearing of oaths of allegiance before the Okwahu Hene and Elders.
I can provide video records to justify my case, friends of the press, a date was scheduled for Nana Obeng Boateng II to be ushered and introduce to Kwahu Traditional Council, preparations were far advanced, then our opponents secured an injunction to restrain him for holding himself as Chief of Pitiko. Better still Op. Kwadwo Frimpong who was installed unlawfully and uncustomary arrogated himself as chief of Pitiko through the assistance of Obo Hene and that he Op. Kwadwo Frimpong has sworn oath of allegiance to him (Obo Hene).
To set the record straight, Pitiko does not swear an oath to Nifa Hene but only introduce himself to him for support, and further submission to Okwahu hene ie. Daasebre. The press, I say with authority Op. Kwadwo Frimpong is not a chief of Pitiko and he cannot hold himself as such.”
Alleged assault case made by op Kwadwo Frimpong
Responding to the alleged assault, Nana Adu Parko said
“In order to set the records straight and make rebuttals on above false statement on the 9th April 2021, Opanyin Kwadwo Frimpong and his accomplices came to Pitiko, with reasons best known to them.
Around 9:00pm I received phone calls that some people wanted to invade the Pitiko Palace for another proper installation by the opponent to install another chief in the locked palace, prior to that in order to fortified the palace, some two men have been put on the security to guide the palace. At the same time 9:00pm a phone call came to me that some four gentlemen came and attempted to break into the palace.
Low and behold the two securities on guard saw them earlier and shouted thieves, thieves, suspects bolded away, whiles the guards also gave them a hot chase with help of other good Samaritan and got hold of one, fortunately and unfortunately, they called back on a phone and I asked them to bring him to me for onward transmission to the police commander of Tease. In not less than thirty minutes he was brought to me.
Friends of the press, I told them not to mishandle or assault him. On that note if Opanin Kwadwo Frimpong alleged, that thirty men came to him with guns, machetes, saw, clubs and any other sophisticated weapons, I can confidently say that it is baseless and unfounded and calculated stories and lies.”
