His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has launched the Cocoa Pension Scheme in the Ashanti region on December 1, 2020.

In the quest of giving cocoa farmers a befitting retirement scheme, it was paramount that a scheme is developed for the farmers. As a part of the promises made by the Akuffo Addo led the government to give cocoa farmers a better life, the manifestation for the promises was made on December 1, 2020, as the President rolls out the Policy.

The scheme seeks to enhance a better livelihood for all cocoa farmers who go on retirement.

Speaking during the launch of the scheme, Nana Akuffo Addo, pleaded with electorates to vote for the New Patriotic Party and his good self so that they could do more for the country.

Present at the launch was the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Afriyie Osei-Akoto, the Ashanti regional minister, Hon. Osei- Mensah as well as other big wigs of the New Patriotic Party.

The occasion saw a colourful display of culture and pageantry. The crowd’s response to the ‘boom boom boom’ appeal by the President was thunderous.

The Agric minister, Hon. Osei Akoto, on his part, revealed that the days of sorrow for cocoa farmers are over. He added that the government under the compassionate leadership of Nana Akuffo Addo has implemented a scheme that was supposed to have been implemented about some 36years ago.

He said;

It is only a compassionate president like Nana Akuffo Addo who can do this for farmers. Cocoa farmers can now retire in peace.
