Nyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson was held in police custody in the early hours Tuesday 02 November 2021 at the central police station, Takoradi for reporting and publishing fake news on kidnapping. MyNewsGhana.Net reports

The host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show claim one Stephen Kumi called into his show that he was expecting her girlfriend Stephanie Kumiwaa two weeks ago but the lady has since not appeared.

He later had a call from the lady’s friend that Stephanie has been kidnapped and a ransom of GHC 2000.00 was being demanded.

The journalist went ahead to publish this alleged fake kidnapping on Ghana web and other news portals only for the Ghana Police Service in Takoradi to extend an invitation to him since all checks from the police stations at Mpohor and assembly members in the district were all not aware of the story.

The people in the twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi are asking a fundamental question which begs to ask, what is the reason for the wanton faking of kidnapped cases in the Western Region? Could it be because of somebody’s selfish interest?

The statement from the police and the Assembly Members has rendered the allegation of kidnapping in Mpohor frivolous as well as a fake. From a reliable source, Paa Kwesi Simpson of Connect FM was invited by the Central Police Station around 1 pm and was granted bail around 7:48 pm on the same day.
