President-Akufo-Addo-at-Africa-Investment-Forum

The former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party(CPP), Mr James Kwabena Bonfeh aka Kabila has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa to as a matter of urgency intervene in the ongoing impasse between the National Labour Commission and University Teachers Association of Ghana

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrookoo morning show which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, Mr Bonfeh said that the issue between UTAG and NLC is gradually degenerating into something unhealthy.

He expressed disappointment that an issue that could be resolved over a cup of tea has ended in an industrial strike action with no one knowing when the strike will end.

He added that anyone who knows the worth of lecturers in the development of our country will not joke with the current situation at hand.

“The President must take up this matter personally because this UTAG strike cannot go on like this,” he said.

However, Kabila expressed discontent over the decision by UTAG to ignore an Accra High Court ruling injuncting the strike.

According to him, although UTAG had a reason for not returning to the classroom as ordered by the court, their action was very distasteful and should not be encouraged.

He believes that the powers of the court should be held in high esteem by all especially lecturers who are seen to be in the elite group in society.
