The former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party(CPP), Mr James Kwabena Bonfeh aka Kabila has said that the decision by the National Democratic Congress to submit election reforms proposal to the Electoral Commission is simply a publicity gimmick.

According to him, the NDC is only aimed at looking good in the eyes of the public particular their supporters.

Speaking on Neat FM’s Ghana Montie morning show which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, Kabila said that the NDC undertook the exercise simply to tell their supporters that they are ready come 2024.

This he said is because the proposal that has been made by the NDC is not new.

He explained that a committee which was set up to look at how to advance Ghana’s electoral system some years back have already touched on the issues that had been raised by the NDC in their proposal.

“There is nothing new in their 34 point recommendations. For me I think that the NDC has come with this proposal only to appease its fans” he said.

He continued that some of the issues raised by the NDC in fact cannot be resolved by the EC Chair or IPAC because the law does not give the EC the powers to do so.

In concluding, Mr Kabilla said that the antics being deployed by the NDC at this point will not do the party any good.

He added that once upon a time, the umbrella party had the greatest opportunity to transform Ghana but failed woefully.
