The General Secretary of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has hinted that when the party is voted into power come December 7, it will institute Gold Board to manage the country’s gold better.
He said this during his visit to four orphan constituencies (Asutifi North, Asunafo North, Tano North and Tano South) in Ahafo Region to highlight some of the policies of the party.
He mentioned the NDC has realized that the country is not making enough gains from gold mining sector and this has necessitated the managers of the party to introduce the Gold Board.
According to Asiedu Nketiah, the Board will provide Mining Extension Officers (MEOs) at mining communities in the country to educate the youth who are into small scale mining and galamsey as to how to undergo their activities to make their activities less risky to themselves and others.
” Another policy to be introduced by the Board is to provide equipments for those into galamsey to easily detect areas where golds are located to avoid destroying lands without golds ” General Mosquito added.
He further said the Board will ensure that government purchase a great quantum of gold from the people at reasonable prices as compared to the foreign companies to make the living conditions of the people better.
The NDC General Secretary added that the Gold Board will train people especially the youth who are interested in learning how to use gold to produce items to improve their lives and also to curb the unemployment menace.
He therefore appealed to the youth to vote massively for the NDC because it will surely reintroduce galamsey in an improved way to assist them to also enjoy better living standards just like other Ghanaians.
He introduced the party’s Parliamentary Candidate, Ebenezer Addo affectionately called Ahafo Mosquito to the people and urged them to vote him as their Member of Parliament (MP) because he has the ideas to develop the Constituency to improve their lives.
