The Director Of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has said that many Free SHS graduates will find it difficult fitting into into the workforce because of the kind of schooling they have recieved at the second cycle level.

Speaking on Good Afternoon Ghana on Monday, August 30, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, Mr Afriyie said that only a few of the Free SHS graduates can be described as very good students.

Even with that, Mr Afriyie said that those students were very fortunate to recieve homeschooling support from their parents.

He cited an example of a situation whereby a free SHS graduate could not even communicate in English after being asked what programme he wanted to pursue at the university.

“Have you seen a video circulating where a Free SHS graduate was asked by a lecturer in English about the course he wanted to study at the university only for the boy to respond by saying “ka wotumi kaa no wo twi aa enka 3b3 mi d3” to wit “if you said it in Twi I would have been happy”, Meanwhile the boy had very good grades in the final exam?” he said.

According to him, the Free SHS students are now being asked to go home because there is no food to feed them.

He added that the shift system that was introduced at the SHS level was also an after adding that the whole initiative was not thought through.
