Ghanaian celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah has for the first time spoken about his estranged relationship with dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Nkonkonsa YouTube, Ameyaw Debrah disclosed that he and Shatta Wale have not been on good terms for almost seven (7) years now.
He narrated the cause of their rift saying he had written a story about Shatta Wale which the artiste took offence to and threatened to end his life.
He recalled the words of Shatta Wale saying “if you value your life, then don’t write about me…”
Ameyaw Debrah noted that, as a safety measure, he has chosen to blacklist Shatta Wale and has, since the day the artiste sent out his threat, not posted anything nor made any reportage about Shatta Wale.
“So, what I’ve done is I’ve blacklisted him for over almost 7 years. I don’t write about him…On record, the worst which has moved from years to years will be my relationship with Shatta Wale”, he added.
He further recounted once coincidentally boarding the same aircraft with Shatta Wale to Tamale for a musical concert and taking pictures of the celebrities on board the plane, he refused to capture Shatta Wale.
Another proof that shows he has blacklisted the artiste is when Shatta Wale won Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards years ago but he decided to write about rapper Sarkodie who also won three awards during the awards event.
He disclosed that Shatta Wale has however reached out to him a number of times but he is unsure if they will ever patch their differences since the artiste occasionally throws subtle shades at him.
On whether or not blacklisting Shatta Wale affected his career, Ameyaw Debrah stressed, on the contrary, “it’s been fun. I mean if I haven’t written about the most influential person in the world for six years and I’ve survived, it shows that sometimes people talk for nothing’’.
