The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi has said his seeming hatred for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stems from the bitter experience they forced down his faculties years back.
The loudmouthed politician is who is infamously noted for the uncouth way of doing politics said he used to manufacture cars before the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) came to power in 2013 to rundown his business.
Speaking to Zionfelix, he noted: ‘The first car we were able to manufacture was ‘Kantanka Boafor’ and I also manufactured ‘Wontumi Cars.’ Yes, I produce cars, I will show you the pictures if you doubt it.
I manufactured them before the NDC came to destroy my business in the year 2013. I manufactured cars in Ghana,’ he said.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo has said he cannot just get up and sanction any minister dealing in galamsey on mere rumours without hard facts.
He made this known at a national dialogue on small-scale mining organized by the Minister of Land and Natural Resources in Accra on Wednesday, 14 April 2021. He however reiterated the fight against galamsey is still ongoing and he’ll do everything within his power to stop the menace.
According to Wikipedia, galamsey, derived from the phrase “gather them and sell”, is a local Ghanaian term which means illegal small-scale gold mining in Ghana. Such workers are known as galamseyers or orpailleurs in neighboring Francophone nations.
“I’m determined to enforce the laws of illegal mining no matter the subject – high or low,” the President said. I’ll, however, not act on hearsay or mere allegations without more”, the President noted.
