The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed optimism that the Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Jean Mensa will adopt his party proposal for electoral reforms.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM’s, Ghana Montie show on Thursday, August 12, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, the NDC scribe said that Jean Mensa was appointed by the President and as such serves in the interest of Ghanaians.
He added that the country does not also belong to Mrs Mensa where she can unilaterally decide what is good for Ghanaians and what is not.
Also, he added that the 30 paragraph proposal as has been submitted is not to seek the interest of NDC but rather to ensure that the country has perfect Ghana electoral system which will, in turn, bring peace during elections.
Asked by the host as to why these proposals were not laid during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee ( IPAC) meeting, Mr Asiedu Nketia said that IPAC for some strange reason is now malfunctioning.
He added that IPAC doesn’t come across as an important committee to Mrs Jean Mensah and her commissioners.
He concluded by calling on the media to play their part towards ensuring that the EC adopts these proposals submitted by the NDC.
