Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana has clarified speculations that the disparities in the presidential results were supposed to have affected the presidential results as well as the percentages.

The Electoral Commission announced Nana Addo Akuffop Addo as the winner for the December 2020 polls with a percentage of 51.595%.

In a statement, the EC acknowledged that the Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa “inadvertently used 13,433,573 as the total valid votes cast.”

With this assertion, many people thought the figures should have some effects on the percentages but the Electoral Commission says the disparities will not change anything as far as the presidential results are concerned.

The EC said,

“The total valid votes cast is 13,119,460. This does not change the percentages stated for each candidate and the declaration made by the Chairperson

The EC has since provided a summary of the 2020 presidential election results without the Techiman South constituency.
