All applicants who have bought forms hoping to be enlisted into the security services must go to the Managing Director of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku for a refund, Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, the  Deputy Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has urged.

Speaking on Tonton Sansan on TV XYZ, the vociferous NDC spokesman reminded Ghanaians that Awuku, a National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), promised that various security services would not sell recruitment vouchers to Ghanaians under their government.

His campaign promise ahead of the 2016 elections meant various security services such as the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Services etc would not sell forms to prospective applicants.

“During the NPP regime and at the time we were exiting power, we never sold forms for the security services, Nana Akufo Addo is saying Ghanaian youth who are loyal, dedicated and motivated by love for the country who want to serve Ghana, will not be required to pay GHC 100 for any forms as it recently happened with the police… A Nana Akufo-Addo Presidency will ensure that these application forms are not sold,” Sammi Awuku said while addressing a youth rallies in Bawku, Pusiga and Tempane constituencies in Upper East Region as reported by Kasapafmonline.com.

Sammy Awuku, who accused the then NDC government of taking advantage of the high level of unemployment in the country, said an Akufo-Addo government would make the recruitment process transparent.

But Kwaku Asafo-Agyei who was alarmed by the recent mad rush for security services vouchers by the youth then implored the youth to line up at the NLA head office and demand a refund of the monies paid for the vouchers.

“I will urge the youth that anyone who buys the forms and is not be picked for enlistment should go to the NLA Boss, Sammi Awuku to take GHS 100 each,” he said in Akan.

Asafo-Agyei told host Prince Minkah that “when John Mahama was in power, there were issues with jobs, John Mahama said he’s making everything possible that the youth will get jobs to do, and Nana Akufo-Addo said Mahama doesn’t know anything about job creation; He said President Mahama was incompetent and asked Ghanaians to sack him by voting against him in the 2016 polls because he [Akufo-Addo] was coming to create jobs but today the youth are paying for recruitment forms despite promises that the forms will be free.”

This is why I am calling on the youth to go to the NLA where Sammy Awuku is, form long queues in front of his office and tell him that they’re selling the forms to them so they are coming for a refund,” Asafo-Agyei stated.

To him, the NLA Boss has money and can pay them.

“There’s a lot of funds at Ghana Lotteries Authority (NLA) so Sammy can give them the money to pay foe their  forms’’ he stressed.
