The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi has said that familial ties have blinded President Nana Akufo-Addo on the wrongdoings of the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori Atta.
According to him, Mr Ken Ofori Atta should have been sacked a long time ago because of his ineptitude however due to his familial bond with the President, he remains at the post.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s “Ekosii Sen” show on Tuesday, August 10, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net Mr Gyamfi said that the family of President Akufo-Addo will not to hesitate to storm the Jubilee House seeking answers if he tries to replace Ken Ofori.Atta
” Because Ken Ofori Atta is his(Akufo-Addo’s) cousin he can’t sack him,” he said.
He added, ” if he should try to do that, family members will go to the Jubilee House and demand that the President rescinds that decision”.
Sammy Gyamfi said if not for that reason, issues arising out of the procurement of the Sputnik V vaccines would have led to the dismissal of Ken Ofori Atta by now.
Following the ad-hoc committee of Parliament’s report on the procurement of Sputnik V Vaccines, many have called for the Health Minister to be dismissed but Sammy Gyamfi has a divergent view.
He believes that the Health Minister is only being used as a conduit by the Finance Minister who is the real culprit in this whole issue.
