
National Women Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Kate Gyamfua has revealed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is likely to nominate more women and the youth as various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCES)
Speaking at the sidelines of vetting of applicants in the Central Region, the NPP National Executive was impressed with the fact that more youth and women vying for MMDCEs position.
According to her, these group of persons would redeem the image of the party in the region that came lost about 9 seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 polls
“I strongly believe the President would consider the involvement of women and youth in the MMDCEs race and nominate more women and youth to serve in the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs)”, she revealed
Commenting on the Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the applicants, she was impressed and believed all the applicants qualified to serve in the MMDAs but only one person will be representing the President at the various MMDAs.
Out of the 23 seats in the region, the NPP won 10 while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came from its original 4 seats in 2016 including Cape Coast South, Agona South, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abbrem constituencies to win nine more making their total 13.
