Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka believes Ghana ace Thomas Partey can take over the leadership role at the club.
Gabonese forward Pierre Emerick Augbamayeng was stripped off the captaincy over breach of disciplinary code and has missed the victories against Southampton and West Ham.
The Gunners are yet to name a new captain but Xhaka, one of the leaders at the club has suggested Thomas Partey for the role.
“We have a lot of young players, and you can see the hunger in them,” Xhaka told The Independent. “But as well, the experienced players like me, like Thomas (Partey) for example in the middle, we have to take them to the side, we have to speak with them.
“They are making our life very easy, because they are playing very good. They are scoring and we are enjoying playing with them. But, of course, we need the leaders in the team and at the moment we are doing well.”
Thomas Partey joined the Gunners in the summer of 2020 and has since been an integral member of the club.
Arsenal sit fourth on the ENglish Premier League table and are chasing a Champions League spot for next season.
