The Ghana Police Service has been said to use legal means to arrest Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Honorable Francis Xavier-Sosu for leading a protest in Madina which triggered criminal acts.

This was made known in a press release signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kwesi Ofori. According to the police, Honorable Francis Xavier-Sosu declined an invitation by the police on the day of the protest to assist the police for his alleged involvement in the unlawful blockade of a road and the destruction of public property.

In furtherance, the police have revealed that Honorable Francis Xavier-Sosu declined further invitation giving reference to parliamentary privilege. Reacting to the issue, the police have denied alleged arrest accusations of the Francis Xavier-Sosu at church premises and explained that any plain-clothed police personnel found on the premises of the church, may have been there for intelligence purposes and not to effect an arrest.

The police maintained that they will continue to investigate the matter and therefore urges the public to continue to support them as they maintain law and order.
