Social commentator, Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs has waded into the brouhaha surrounding the latest Presidential travels of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrookoo morning programme on Wednesday, September 1, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net Mr Allotey Jacobs in a rhetorical question asked whether the North Tongu MP was hoping to see the President use tricycle(aboboyaa) for his international travels.
According to him, the use of luxurious aircraft by Presidents for their travels is not a new phenomenon.
He revealed that previous NDC governments also chartered luxurious flights for the President to embark on trips outside.
“Was he expecting the President to use Aboboyaa for his trips? This practice is not new, my neighbours(NDC) use to do it” he added.
For his part, the former Central Regional Minister Mr Kwamena Duncan who was at the same show expressed shock at the posturing of Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa in this whole issue.
He said that as well-meaning Ghanaians, emphasis on the President’s travel should be about the safety Mr Akufo-Addo anytime he goes to these trips rather than questioning the cost.
He refuted the 3.4 million cedi figure quoted by Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa as the amount spent on the President’s chartered jet.
