The Director of Operations for the ‘Fixing The Country’ group Mr Hopeson Adorye, has said that young people who are currently faced with hardships in Ghana is partly because they are from poor homes.
Speaking on The Seat Show on Net 2 TV which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, on Monday August 16, Mr Adorye explained that the PNDC/NDC government that ruled Ghana in the 1980s mismanaged the economy hence ruining the future of the young people then who today have become parents.
He comtinued that the PNDC government led by then Military leader, Jerry Jonn Rawlings simply did not know how to run the country.
“The reason why many of your parents are poor was because of how bad the PNDC/ NDC ruked the counyry. They sold off state companies to NDC members who in turn could not manage it hence leading to job losses,” he said.
Comparing the governance of PNDC/NDC and that of NPP, he said that no youth would even have dared to say FixTheCountry if they witnessed the reign of JJ Rawlings as President.
“No person born before 1982 would shout Fix the country today, I blame the youth because they never saw the PNDC era,” he said.
He said that under the Akufo-Addo led administration, factories hitherto had gone defunct have now sprung back to life.
He cited GIHOC distillery as an example.
“GIHOC for example collapsed under the NDC, but today go and see how Akufo-Addo has revived that company.Today GIHOC exports Akpeteshie under new name Akpet to the international market, “he added.
