The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party Mr Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye has accused the Ranking Member of the Health Committee of Parliament, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh of demanding for money from the Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu when the latter appeared for questioning during the Adhoc committee probe into the Sputnik V procurement.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Oman FM on the Boiling Point show on Thursday August 12, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, Abronye revealed that the reason for which Kwabena Akandoh is so fixated on getting Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu ousted from office is that the Minister refused to give him money as he requested.
“Akandoh wanted to take bribe from Kwaku Agyemang Manu and he refused to call for his dismissal”.
Giving more details on the issue, Abronye said he got the information from a good friend who was also part of the Adhoc committee setup to probe the procurement of the vaccines.
Abronye explained that a day before submitting the findings made by the committee, Mr Akandoh tried to smuggle in another document as additional files into the report, a move which was rejected by the committee.
In a move to forcibly squeeze money from the Health Minister, Mr Akandoh then gave an ultimatum that it was either the Health Minister bribes him to shut him up regarding the refusal to seek Parliamentary approval for the procurement of the vaccines or else he will do everything possible to get him sacked.
He said he was therefore not surprised that the Juaboso MP is now all the place calling for Kwaku Agyemang Manu to be sacked.
