The former NPP MP for Tema East Constituency, Mr Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has confessed that he cannot defend the Health Minister Mr Kwaku Agyemang on the controversial procurement of some Sputnik V vaccines.
According to him, the errors made by the Minister about the said deal has left a dint and some questions marks on the whole issue.
Speaking in an interview on UTV Adekye Nsroma programme which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, on Tuesday, August 10, the former Deputy Transport Minister said that Mr Kweku Agyemang Manu should have sought the necessary approval from Parliament because Covid-19 was not very deadly in Ghana unlike other countries.
He added that no matter how dire the issue had become, Parliament would have still convened and given him the necessary approval for the purchase of the vaccines.
Asked wether the Kweku Agyemanf must loose his job due to his, Mr Titus Glover could not give a definite answer.
He admonished the Minister to analyse the unfolding events and make a better judgement as to whether he wants to continue as the Minister of Health or not.
“I want him, to ask himself one question, that is if this issue came to his attention during his days as the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee how would he have handled it,” he quizzed.
So far, many groups have called on the Health Minister to resign from his post.
Others have appealed to the President to dismiss Mr Agyemang Manu from office if he remains adamant.
