
Cape Coast, 12th July, 2021, Cape Coast North Member of Parliament, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku has donated 20 pieces of student’s mattresses and one thousand cedis to the Social Welfare Girl’s Vocational Training Centre (SWGVTC) in Cape Coast.
The Lokko House of the all girls training centre situated in his constituency was guttered by fire on the 27th of May 2021.
The MP said he received an sos call about the school’s plight in his constituency when he had travelled to Bechem.
“I was in Bechem when I was told about the fire outbreak. I returned and went to the school to ascertain things for myself and realised that the school and students needed help”.
Dr. Nyarku narrated that, as part of his vision to assist schools within his constituency, he promised to help them at the appropriate time.
He added that even though the MP share of the common fund isn’t in yet, he had to raise some money to assist them. “I’ve been able to procure 20 mattresses and I’m adding 1000 to help cover some of their cost. More assistance would come as and when resources are available”.
Madam Joyce Korda a teacher at the training centre, upon taking delivery of the items today Monday, 12th July, 2021 thanked the honourable member of parliament for his kind gesture.
“We’re happy this afternoon when we saw the honourable and his entourage coming with the mattresses and the envelope”. We are praying for more assistance and wish him God’s blessings.
Adjei Sophia who is the hostel prefect of the Social Welfare Girl’s Vocational Training Centre, on behalf of her colleagues thanked Dr. Minta Nyarku for coming to their aid. “We are very grateful to him and all my colleagues are happy to receive some of the mattresses to sleep on”.
In the company of the MP to do the donation were the Metropolitan Director of NADMO, Mr. Steven Foli, the MP’s Personal Assistant, Ebenezer Domie, the Cape Coast North National Democratic Congress Constituency Secretary, Mr. Simon Peter Gyekye and other Pedu Community NDC branch executive members.
