Isaac-Adongo

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, is urging his colleagues to reject Minister of State at the Finance Ministry-Designate, Isaac Adongo as he appears before the Parliament Appointment Committee for vetting, tomorrow June 2, 2021

According to him, Mr. Adu Boahene’s private firm, Black Stars Advisory; DataBank and other advisory firms have made about GH¢856 million in fees on loans secured by the country since 2017.

Mr. Adongo who is also a Member of the Finance Committee says the conflict of interest makes him unfit for the role.

“Parliament has the power not to approve Charles Adu Boahen. I hold the view that Charles Adu Boahen by this conduct has demonstrated lack of capacity and fiduciary responsibility to lead this country’s finance of our country”, he told an Accra based radio station monitored by MyNewsGh.com

“As we speak now, we know Ken [Finance Minister] is not well and we wish him well. Tactically, Charles Adu-Boahen has been upgraded to the position of a Minister of State for a reason; to provide the needed backstopping to the Finance Minister and therefore we are actually looking at somebody who could become the defacto Finance Minister of this state and this is how they are starting. So now as the Minister of State and Ken relinquishes his responsibilities to this man, can you now tell the next move and how we are going to suffer”, he further said.

“I’m calling on my colleagues, first on the Appointment Committee and plenary if they so recommend to us to reject Charles Adu Boahen in entirety because he is a very big danger to the finances of our country by this very conduct”, the vocal Adongo angrily said.

“We cannot be looking at these numbers, how can we be borrowing such money but we cannot demonstrate what we have use this money for. GH¢200 billion and we can’t demonstrate what we have used this money for, and our children are still doing double track”, he said.
