
Many more disasters are being recorded at galamsey sites as two unidentified mothers have been confirmed dead in a pit of mud this morning at Breman in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region following the collapse of an illegal mining (galamsey) pit in which they were working.
Those two women who died were identified along with a third body, a man all believed to be between the ages of 24 and 35 years.
Upper Denkyira West NADMO Director, Isaac Gyasi who confirmed the incident said the deceased were trapped in an illegal small scale mining pit popularly at the outskirts of the Breman community.
According to him, the dead bodies have been removed from the pit and sent to the Dunkwa-On-Offin Government Hospital, where they have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.
Meanwhile, about 40 people have been trapped in the pit.
An excavator is presently on the mine land searching for the trapped people.
