Charles Owusu, Head of Operations at the Forestry Commission, has admonished Members of Parliament to leave the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin to execute his duties effectively.

Confusion rocked the election of the Speaker as the Members of Parliament on the Minority and Majority sides clashed over who becomes the next Speaker of the House on Thursday, January 7 before the swearing in of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Before Rt. Hon. Bagbin was named, some Minority members were captured kicking ballot boxes and booths and a Majority member also attempting to bolt away with ballot papers.

Despite the kerfuffle that characterized the election of a new Speaker of the 8th Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin emerged victor but some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs fear he will be influenced by his partisan affiliation with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) which may not augur well for President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

The NDC threw a party to celebrate Hon. Bagbin no his new assignment.

But, according to Charles Owusu, the NDC shouldn’t rejoice quickly thinking they have a member of the party as Speaker, so he will do their bidding.

Speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”, Charles Owusu noted that Rt. Hon. Bagbin is a just leader and will do his job without biases.

“Leave him to do his work because he’s not there to serve the NDC or neither the NPP but he’s there to serve Ghana,” he slammed the legislators.
