
The National Youths Authority (NYA) in collaboration with the Asutifi North Youths Parliament have organised the youths in the District to embark on a candle light and vigil walk to promote peace ahead of the December 7 polls.
Addressing the youths at the forecourt of the assembly in Kenyasi the capital after the walk, the Asutifi North NYA District Director, Kingsley Asante Koranteng advised them (the youths) to preach peace to others wherever them find themselves to help avert violence in the District and Region at large.
The Speaker of the Asutifi North Youths Parliament, George Nti said, the District needs absolute peace for development so the youths must not allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians for fomenting violence.
” The world will only experience peace if the youths are motivated to be part of peace building activities just like what has been organised today ” he stated.
Ibrahim Yusif popularly called Yaro Gruma who represented the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate said, the NDC will not assigned the youth to engage in violence irrespective of the outcome of the election results.
” I task you to prove to the world that youths in this District are violence – free when it comes to elections ” Yaro Gruma told the youth.
Emmanuel kyeremeh who spoke in behalf of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate advised the youths to stay away from election violence before, during and after because Ghana Police Service is poised in dealing with such people.
” Our constituency is noted for peace so let’s maintain it by staying away from violence ” he stated.
Some the youths who took part in the walk applauded the organisers and encouraged other assemblies in the country especially in Ahafo Region to embark on such activity often as the general elections draw close.
