Police in Cameroon, has confined Cameroon’s opposition leader, Maurice Kamto, at home for planning Tuesday’s anti-government protests in the capital Yaounde.

A video circulating on social media shows numerous police vehicles surrounding Maurice Kamto’s home.

Speaking in an interview with Voice of America monitored by My News Ghana, The leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) admitted that he has neither been beaten nor detained, but he feared that he would be arrested if he came out of his guarded.

Mr. Kamto called for mass demonstrations to demand an end to the Anglophone crisis and a reform of the electoral system in Cameroon.

One person was reportedly killed as police tried to disperse demonstrators in the major towns in Cameroon.

Mr. Kamto on Wednesday through Twitter sent wishes of speedy recovery to those injured and termed Tuesday’s protests as “a resounding success”.

He noted the protests rose a powerful force and that they will not stop until President Paul Biya resigns.
