Raheem Sterling has tested negative for coronavirus after attending Usain Bolt’s birthday party, with the Olympic legend having tested positive for the illness.
The news will come as a relief for both Manchester City and England and the winger should have no issues joining Gareth Southgate’s side for international duty after being named in the squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.
Sterling ‘feels fine’ and is ‘showing no symptoms’, according to Sky Sports, but he will be tested again in the coming days.

Sterling undertook the Covid-19 test in Jamaica after moving swiftly to find out whether he had contracted the illness.
He will be back in action soon if the second coronavirus test comes back negative.
England boss Southgate has included Sterling in his squad for the Nations League games against Iceland on September 5 and Denmark on September 8.
Athletics icon Bolt had his positive test revealed by Jamaica’s health ministry on Monday. He posted a video on Twitter and said he is not experiencing any symptoms so far.

The news came after he was filmed partying with guests at his 34th birthday bash in his homeland with celebrity guests including the City star in attendance.
Videos showed attendees singing, dancing, and standing close together under a large awning during the celebrations.
Sterling has been enjoying a hard earned break since his season finished on August 15 with Pep Guardiola’s side crashing out of the Champions League against Lyon.
City’s participation in the fast-approaching new Premier League season has been delayed to give the players a fair period of rest and recovery time compared to their rivals.
He was pictured in attendance at Bolt’s birthday party and is thought to have been there with other sporting stars such as Bayer Leverkusen attacker Leon Bailey and cricket legend Chris Gayle.

The 34-year-old Bolt tweeted ‘best birthday ever’ after his party, on Friday last week

Speaking before his diagnosis was confirmed, Bolt said: ‘Good morning everybody, just waking up.
‘Like everybody, I’ve checked social media, social media’s saying I’m confirmed [as having coronavirus]. I did a test on Saturday because I have work [abroad].
‘I’m trying to be responsible so I’m going to stay in for me and my friends. Also, I have no symptoms.
‘I’m going to quarantine myself and wait to see what the protocol is. Until then, I’m quarantined by myself and just taking it easy. Be safe out there.’
Jamaica has recorded a total of 1,413 cases of coronavirus and 16 deaths from the disease, with infections soaring in recent days.
After recording just 174 cases throughout the whole of July, the country has seen 267 infections in just the last four days.
Officials put the uptick in cases down to the reopening of international borders as well as celebrations over a long weekend in August marking Independence Day and Emancipation Day.
