Guard-600x339

A Forestry Commission guard from Sunyani who was assigned to the Leopard unit of the Asukese Forest Reserve and went missing about three weeks ago has been discovered handcuffed and with his legs tied near the Nkawkaw Asona garbage dump.

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, early in the morning, a Zoomlion bin truck driver and his companion discovered him.

After Vitus Yourdong, 31, excused his coworkers on July 2, 2023, to answer to nature’s call, he was apprehended by several allegedly unlawful chain saw operators during an operation in the Asukesse Forest Reserve in Sunyani.

He claims that during the early hours of Tuesday, he was manhandled, assaulted multiple times, and detained before being accidentally thrown at the Nkawkaw Asona waste dump.

The District Forest Manager for Mpraeso, Nii Amoh, attended the Nkawkaw Central Police Station to assess the situation after being informed about the victim’s whereabouts.

He was then freed from his handcuffs and the rope that was binding his legs, and he was sent to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for treatment.
