On Saturday, February 12th, 2022, Afahjoy International School celebrated its 10th Anniversary. It was a moment to reflect on the School’s history and those who have contributed to shaping who we are, as well as to thank the previous and present members of the community who have inspired the character and values that exemplify the lively, engaging, and safe environment we see today. It was a chance to laugh, reminisce, and applaud this beautiful school’s memories.
It is not very often that you turn 10, and it is such a significant milestone in your life when you begin to determine whom you will become, the personality of the figure begins to emerge. A school is no different, with traditions, culture, and ideals getting ingrained in our future selves.
The School also employed the Service to celebrate and thank its Foundation workers, as well as those students, parents, and staff members who have been with the school now and since the beginning. Those who formerly had to trek through dust and mud in gumboots to get to class are now surrounded by fresh, open, and contemporary infrastructure at a school that meets the highest of standards.
Mrs. Joyce Attefah Yartey, the school’s proprietress, says, “How we engage with one another will profoundly impact our own lives and the lives of people to come.” said in her message to the audience and the community. We shall be remembered by those ‘still to be members of our school community for the contribution that each of us has made to the progress of the school and the community, as we commemorate those who have made a contribution in the past to our present.”
It was a fantastic occasion to showcase the excellent learning environment and connected community that we have established in our short existence, with over five hundred and fifty distinguished visitors, about fifty special guests & guest artists attending the Service and remaining to engage in the day’s activities. Some not to mention but few other special guests present to grace the occasions are the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Awutu Senya East Assembly Kasoa, Madam Mrs. Anita Love, Director of the Ghana Education Service for the Awutu Senya East – Kasoa Assembly, representative of the Odupong Kpehe /Kasoa Chief Nai Odupong Awushie Tetteh II, representatives from the office of the President, Renowned Gospel Musicians that includes; Hanna Marfo, Piesie Esther, Obaapa Christy and but not the least “The Gideons Choir”. The program was also Mc’s by a renowned and famous broadcaster and News Host of Peace FM, Madam Nana Yaa Konadu.
