The International Central Gospel Church, Upper Room Temple resumes In-Person Church Service Today since the partial and progressive lifting of Covid-19 restrictions on public gathering in Ghana by the president, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The inability to join other church members in fellowship each week has been one of the most worrying imports of the COVID-19 epidemic. Due to social distancing guidelines, it’s been nearly impossible for congregations around the country to gather in ways they were habituated to prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

URT Leadership placed the following Covid-19 measures in place as they start in-person service today.

The church has foregone children’s ministry for the time being due to the fact that children’s ministry is simply almost impossible to apply social distancing. Kids are however welcome to come and join service with their parents. All attendees/ members will also be required to practice social distancing, keeping at least 1m (3ft) – and ideally 2m (6ft) from each other.

Special Covid-19 Team in place is ensuring the adherence of all Covid-19 prevention measures are observed. Some of these measures include;

  1. Everyone to wash and sanitize hands before entering the premises.
  2. Special team with thermometer gun for temperature checks at entrances.
  3. The Church has equipped ushers and greeters with gloves and masks. Handshaking too is highly discouraged among all.
  4. Ushers opened doors to everyone to limit the numbers of people touching door handles.
  5. Requests all members to wear face/nose masks
  6. Auditorium chairs were kept at least 1m (3ft) away from each other.
  7. Services are carried out in the shortest possible time than usual – to ensure safety as part of Covid-19 prevention measures.
  8. In order to avoid spreading germs while tithing and giving offerings, church members are to tithe via mobile money or submit their offerings in an envelope or by a collection bowl taking around only by an usher.
  9. Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces before and after service
  10. Encourage families to stay together. (i.e. try to limit kids gathering with other
    children)
  11. Post signage about good hygiene in the premises (Poster)
  12. Made sure bathrooms are properly stocked with soap and paper towels for
    proper handwashing
  13. Mid weekly services and departmental meetings are all on hold until further notice. However, Covenant Family meetings and other sub prayer meetings shall still be running online/ Zoom or via Watsup.
  14. A risk assessment is being taken. Members’ data were taken in order to determine the number of people allowed to take part in a service (in an auditorium).
